Oh I searched the world...

"I just don't belong and there's no place on earth that will feel like my home"

"Oh I searched the world for that feeling of peace, but I've got no solution, I feel no release"

"Someday I know I'll taste the death that is sweet, for Your own on the cross took out all of the sting"

"Maybe the point is I'm not on my own and to try by myself is to claim this as home"

"
That's when it hit me, that I'm not yet home, Oh Lord I am ready let Your Kingdom come"

"If I find in myself desires which nothing in this can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that i was made for another world" C.S. Lewis

Kept awake last night by random feelings of homesickness (they strike when least expected). I am so excited to one day stop my wanderings and truly be Home.

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ" Philippians 3:20

  1. Hi Leah! Cara from The Marvelous Flight blog. Yes - my parents ARE moving to China! They're going to be missionaries there indefinitely. xo

  2. Sweet Leah! If you could email me, I would love it, because I can't respond to your comments via email! So, I'll respond here but I hope you email me next! I would love to connect because we're totally on the flip flop end of living away from our parents. I mean, I moved to Cali 2 years ago with my parents still in PA, so that's definitely helped the transition (God is so gracious in His perfect plan and how He prepares us for everything), but China is an entire different time zone (more than the 3 hours I'm used to) and it's not America, and it's... scary. But I would love to be able to gain wisdom and insight from each other! Thank you for your dear love!

  3. First things first. I'd give you a HUGE hug if we were in the same room because I know that deep ache that can roll around unexpected and uninvited, missing dear family. Just keep thinking you will see them soon. And then go Skype :) I know, not quite the same thing but almost...

These pictures are speak volumes to me as does these lyrics?? Or are they all from CSLewis? I particularly love that last line by him. LOVE IT. I can't wait to go "home" where I can see my mom again and give her the hugest hug ever and where there will be no more sadness and only joy :)

also...I love Gabriel Aplin (from previous post)...I don't know but I think I first heard her on your blog like a couple years ago or something...LOVE! You have good musical taste :)

  4. What a lovely post, Leah. The pictures are gorgeous and the lyrics/quotes go nicely with them. Well done.

Hope you are able to return home/see your family soon. It is amazing how assured we are that we won't miss it/them and then do. I've not experienced it beyond that of a week away (since that's the longest I've been away) but know that we do miss the comfort and familiarity more than we ever expect. Grateful that "home" is always there. It's a nice thing to return to. :)

PS: Thanks for the comment and stopping by the blog last week. Appreciated it! :)

  5. Cara!!! You will find me in your inbox!

Jeanine! Thank you so much for the understanding words. These are lyrics from artists Sarah & Kate Sparks (check the following post) The song is called Home. Yes I'm a bit Gabrielle Aplin mad these days! It's so cool that you like her too!

Rissi, I think that everyone struggles with the concept of home. It's so comforting to know that it's just a normal part of life and a natural desire to belong somewhere, even if it's not always possible on this earth.

    Thanks for commenting everyone!
